    India’s telecom sector saw significant shifts in the first quarter of 2025, according to the latest report. Wireless subscriber numbers experienced a surge, while broadband growth showed signs of stagnation. The total number of telecom subscribers surpassed 1.2 billion. Wireless usage experienced a sharp increase, and the market presented a mixed picture of gains and losses. The addition of 13.10 million wireless users, including 6.77 million from 5G fixed wireless access (FWA), pushed the total to 1,163.76 million. Meanwhile, wireline subscribers decreased by 5.67 percent. Tele-density rose to 85.04 percent. Internet user base saw a slight decline, while broadband subscriptions slightly decreased. Monthly ARPU for wireless service increased to ₹182.95. The telecom sector’s gross revenue reached ₹98,250 crore, with a 1.93 percent growth, and Adjusted Gross Revenue hit ₹79,226 crore, showing a 1.66 percent increase. Key Quality of Service (QoS) benchmarks were met by both wireline and wireless providers.
