OpenAI is exploring new revenue streams, and the company may incorporate advertisements into its popular AI chatbot, ChatGPT, to boost revenue. In a recent Decoder podcast by The Verge, Nick Turley, ChatGPT’s head at OpenAI, stated that this possibility is not entirely off the table. However, the company intends to approach the integration of advertising with careful consideration and deliberation. This means that users might encounter advertisements in the future, potentially leading to the same level of annoyance experienced with ads on YouTube.

If advertisements are introduced to ChatGPT, users might become equally frustrated, mirroring the experience of being interrupted by ads while watching videos on YouTube. Turley mentioned that even if people are unwilling to pay, the company still aims to provide the best and latest products. OpenAI executives further indicated that if such a move were ever made, it would be executed with great care and thoughtfulness because ChatGPT’s ability to deliver the best answers is a key factor in its popularity. The tool is known for tailoring search results to individual needs and preferences.
