The tremor struck at 8:11 a.m. local time, with its epicenter located approximately 7 miles northwest of Susitna, a community roughly 67 miles from the state’s largest city.
Authorities reported minimal immediate damage and no tsunami threat, attributing this to the earthquake’s moderate depth of 69 kilometers (43 miles). Anchorage Mayor Suzanne LaFrance confirmed via social media that municipal inspectors found no significant issues with major public infrastructure following the quake.
