Tyler Robinson, the individual suspected of shooting Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative figure, is now in custody. Law enforcement sources reported that Robinson threatened self-harm when confronted by his father about the incident. Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed Robinson’s arrest and his suspected involvement in the shooting.
Initial clues, including a palm print, a rifle discovered in the woods, and shoe sole impressions, fueled an intense three-day manhunt. Governor Cox, joined by FBI Chief Kash Patel, announced the arrest. A family member of Robinson contacted a family friend, who then informed the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The family member provided information indicating Robinson’s confession or implication in the shooting. During a family dinner, Robinson reportedly discussed Kirk’s upcoming visit to Utah, expressing criticism and describing Kirk as a spreader of hate. Furthermore, Robinson’s roommate shared messages from Discord, where Robinson mentioned concealing a rifle wrapped in a towel. Patel later confirmed Robinson’s arrest, which occurred around 10 p.m. local time on September 11. The shooting took place at Utah Valley University, where Kirk was addressing a campus event, and resulted in a fatal neck wound.
