Maharashtra’s Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis engaged in high-stakes discussions with Finland’s Foreign Trade and Development Minister Ville Tavio on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos. The conversation marked a milestone in India-Finland relations, emphasizing Maharashtra’s strategic role.

At the heart of the talks was a commitment to expand cooperation in circular economy, cutting-edge innovation, and sophisticated technologies. Both sides agreed on actionable steps to translate these ideas into real-world projects.

Fadnavis shared details on X, revealing plans for hosting a prominent circular economy summit in Mumbai come May-June. He also updated on the state’s dedicated policy framework aimed at promoting resource efficiency and waste reduction.

The agenda extended to supercomputing partnerships, data center expansions—including Nokia’s investments—and Maharashtra’s involvement in Finland’s flagship Global Startup Festival via an official delegation.

Fadnavis conveyed confidence that these deliberations would fortify India-Finland bonds, with Maharashtra playing a pivotal part in fostering mutual growth. The WEF 2026, under the banner ‘Spirit of Dialogue,’ brings together global leaders from January 19-23 to address pressing economic and environmental issues.

This alliance holds promise for job creation, technological transfer, and sustainable practices, positioning both regions at the forefront of the green revolution.
