A fierce gun battle in Balochistan’s Barkhan district resulted in the death of four Baloch fighters. The confrontation, which occurred in the Koh-e-Jandar area of Rakni tehsil on Friday, involved a ‘state-backed’ armed group. Residents reported a prolonged exchange of fire, with heavy weaponry used by both sides.

The deceased individuals have been identified as Mustafa Noor, Samiullah, Rasaan Qadir, and Shahzaib. Their bodies were later transported to a hospital in Rakni. The opposing group is described as a ‘state-backed death squad,’ a term commonly used to refer to pro-government militias alleged to operate with the support of Pakistan’s military and intelligence agencies. Despite the seriousness of the incident, no official statement has been issued by Pakistani authorities.

Separately, heavy fighting was reported in the Spilinji area of Mastung district following a military operation by Pakistani forces. Large troop contingents entered the mountainous region late Thursday night, leading to intense gunfire and multiple explosions. Casualties were reported on both sides, and ambulances and reinforcements were seen entering the area. The precise number of dead or wounded remains unknown, and no Baloch armed group has claimed responsibility for the Spilinji clashes. The ongoing events highlight the persistent instability in Balochistan, where conflict between nationalist groups and state forces continues.
