    Dozens of villages were destroyed in an earthquake that struck Kunar province, Afghanistan. The earthquake caused widespread devastation and also deprived children of their schools. The head of the provincial education department reported that 391 students lost their lives and 760 others were injured due to the earthquake.

    Mohibullah Haidari, Kunar’s Education Director, stated, “In Kunar, 157,074 students are currently out of school. The earthquake claimed the lives of 391 students and three teachers, while 760 students and 20 teachers were injured.”
