EU Urges Putin to Negotiate After Kyiv Air Strikes Damage Delegation Office

Von der Leyen spoke with US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, emphasizing the need for a resolution to the ongoing conflict. She affirmed that Europe would continue providing security guarantees and defense support to Ukraine, aiming for a just and lasting peace. In a social media post, von der Leyen stated her intentions to travel to the seven member states that fortify the EU’s external borders with Russia and Belarus. Earlier, she condemned the Russian airstrikes on Kyiv, highlighting the damage to the EU delegation and calling for an end to attacks on civilian infrastructure, along with a push for negotiations. The recent missile attacks on Kyiv, as reported, caused significant damage to the EU delegation building. The attacks, which occurred on Wednesday night, resulted in at least ten fatalities and numerous injuries.
