Oslo, January 6 – Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen erupted in response to President Donald Trump’s latest Greenland obsession, calling for an end to provocative threats. Speaking on a DR podcast, she cautioned that US force against any other NATO ally would bring all operations to a standstill.

Following US moves on Venezuela, Trump’s insistence on needing Greenland for national security has sparked fears of America’s next target. Frederiksen condemned the comments as coercive tactics against the autonomous Danish region, which has firmly opposed US annexation.

“We have to treat Trump’s words with gravity,” she said, highlighting repeated rejections from Denmark and Greenland. While unable to account for US intentions, she affirmed Europe’s backing for border integrity.

Solidarity poured in from allies. French spokesperson Pascal Confavreux told media, “No forced border alterations.” Britain’s Keir Starmer stated Greenland’s destiny lies with Denmark and locals. German minister Johann Wadephul invoked NATO protections for the territory.

In his Atlantic interview, Trump underscored Greenland’s vital role for America. Frederiksen countered swiftly, asserting no right to seize it and demanding an end to intimidation. Trump’s recent envoy appointment of Jeff Landry has further strained US-Danish ties.

Trump’s post-inauguration fixation on Greenland, including openness to pressure tactics, continues to fuel international tensions over Arctic geopolitics.
