A recent meeting between the Lebanese government and the army saw the presentation of a plan to restrict the right to possess and use weapons solely to the government and the military. This would mean that groups like Hezbollah would no longer be permitted to have their own weaponry.

Hezbollah, a major political and armed organization in Lebanon, has not directly opposed this plan. In a statement to Reuters, Hezbollah leader Mahmoud Komati described the meeting as an opportunity to return to reason and logic, indicating a desire to avoid confrontation. Hezbollah’s reasoning suggests that escalating conflict could lead to instability and chaos within the country.
