India has strongly urged Pakistan to cease its “grave” human rights violations and ongoing repression in the territories of Kashmir it illegally occupies. Speaking at the UN General Assembly, India’s representative highlighted that Pakistani forces and their proxies have been responsible for the deaths of numerous civilians protesting their basic rights.

The Indian delegate condemned the “military occupation, repression, brutality and illegal exploitation of resources” in these areas, stating that the local population is in open revolt. This strong stance comes as a direct response to Pakistan’s consistent attempts to malign India on international platforms.

“Repetitive allegations and lies change neither reality nor the truth,” the Indian representative asserted, dismissing Pakistan’s claims as “double speak and hypocrisy” unworthy of the UN’s attention. India pointed to the active participation of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in democratic elections as a testament to India’s democratic values and the region’s progress.

India also refuted Pakistan’s misinterpretations of UN Security Council Resolution 47, emphasizing that the resolution mandated Pakistan’s withdrawal from occupied Kashmir, a demand that remains unfulfilled. The union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were reiterated as an “integral and inalienable part of India.” India reaffirmed its commitment to human rights, drawing parallels to Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy of non-violence and equality, principles embedded in its constitution and continuously strengthened through legislative and judicial measures.
