India has a long-standing history of assisting its neighbors during times of crisis. This commitment extends beyond immediate borders, with aid provided to countries like Turkey and Palestine during their times of need. Following a devastating 6.0 magnitude earthquake that struck eastern Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province on September 1st, India has stepped forward to provide crucial assistance. The earthquake, which had a depth of eight kilometers, caused widespread destruction and resulted in the loss of over 1,400 lives.

In a demonstration of solidarity, India has sent 21 tons of humanitarian aid to Kabul to assist those affected by the earthquake. The relief supplies, which arrived by air, include essential items such as blankets, tents, hygiene kits, water storage tanks, generators, kitchen utensils, portable water purifiers, sleeping bags, essential medicines, wheelchairs, hand sanitizers, water purification tablets, ORS solution, and medical consumables.
