Pakistan has strongly condemned remarks made by India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who suggested that the Sindh province, currently part of Pakistan, could one day rejoin India. The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs labeled the comments as ‘delusional,’ ‘expansionist,’ and a violation of international law. This strong reaction comes after Singh, speaking at a Sindhi community event, highlighted the deep civilizational ties between Sindh and India. He emphasized that while political borders can shift, cultural and historical connections endure. Singh also alluded to the emotional distress caused by the partition of Sindh for many Sindhi Hindus, noting the region’s historical reverence for the Indus River, even among some Muslims. The Defence Minister’s statement, implying that borders are not immutable, has intensified diplomatic tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. Pakistan urged Indian leaders to avoid rhetoric that jeopardizes regional peace and to instead focus on internal issues, particularly the security of minority communities within India.
