Iran has accused the United States, along with Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, of manipulating the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for their own political gains. This statement follows reports suggesting these Western nations are attempting to pass an anti-Iran resolution during the IAEA’s Board of Governors meeting in Vienna. Esmaeil Baqaei, a spokesperson for Iran’s foreign ministry, responded to inquiries regarding the Western push for a resolution, stating that while Iran has cooperated with the IAEA in the past, the US and the three European countries have misused the agency for political purposes. The spokesperson reiterated Iran’s commitment to its obligations under the Non-Proliferation Treaty and Comprehensive Safeguard Agreements. The US, France, Britain, and Germany are reportedly seeking a draft resolution against Iran over alleged non-compliance with safeguard obligations. Meanwhile, there are reports that Donald Trump sought assistance from Russia in restarting stalled nuclear talks with Iran. According to reports, Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the US-Iran nuclear deal, with Trump expressing interest in Russia’s involvement to help facilitate progress in the stalled talks.
