Former U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan has voiced strong criticism of the Trump administration’s trade actions against India. He warned that these policies are pushing U.S. allies, including India, toward China. Sullivan stated that the trade offensive has jeopardized the progress made in fostering closer ties between India and the United States. During an appearance on the Bulwark podcast, Sullivan asserted that the U.S.’s global standing has diminished, citing India’s shift in perspective as a direct consequence of Trump’s trade practices. He noted that India is now considering closer engagement with China to counterbalance the U.S. He added that the American brand is in a negative place globally.
