Japan is set to undertake its largest-ever defense expenditure. The Ministry of Defense has requested a record budget of 8.8 trillion yen for the upcoming fiscal year, which includes significant investments in new technologies such as drones and long-range missiles. The country has already decided to increase defense spending to approximately 2% of its GDP by 2027. Furthermore, there is pressure from the United States for its allies to increase their spending to alleviate the burden on the American military.
