Interim Prime Minister of Nepal, Sushila Karki, assumed office on Sunday following her swearing-in on September 12th. After taking charge, Karki stated that an investigation would be conducted into those involved in acts of vandalism. She emphasized that her team’s focus is not on savoring power but on a short-term mandate, aiming to hand over responsibility to a new parliament within six months. Karki also announced that those killed during anti-government protests would be declared martyrs.

Karki acknowledged the crucial role of public support for success, highlighting the unprecedented 27-hour-long protests in Nepal. The demonstrations addressed demands for economic equality and an end to corruption. She stressed the need for unity in rebuilding Nepal, committing to unwavering efforts to strengthen the nation and align with the perspectives of the Gen Z generation.
