Netanyahu Supports Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan, Outlines Conditions

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking at a joint press conference with US President Donald Trump, expressed his support for Trump’s peace plan aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Netanyahu stated that the plan aligns with Israel’s war aims, including the return of hostages, the dismantling of Hamas’ military capabilities, and the end of its political rule. He highlighted the strong relationship between the two countries, emphasizing that when they stand together, they achieve the impossible. Netanyahu also praised Trump’s role in actions that made the region and the world safer. Detailing Israel’s vision, the Prime Minister said it includes disarming Hamas and establishing a peaceful civilian administration in Gaza, excluding any role for Hamas or the Palestinian Authority. He specified that if Hamas accepts the plan, the initial step would be a withdrawal, followed by the release of all hostages within 72 hours. Netanyahu further warned that if Hamas rejects the plan, Israel would take action to ‘finish the job’ itself, and he called for an international body to disarm Hamas, aiming for a peaceful resolution. However, he reiterated that Israel would act if peaceful means fail.
