In a bold endorsement, Odisha’s Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi celebrated the India-US trade deal on Thursday, predicting a massive uplift for the state’s key sectors. From handlooms to seafood and rare earths, the agreement promises to unlock export potentials long constrained by high tariffs.

Majhi took to Facebook to spotlight the handloom industry’s bright future. Odisha’s skilled weavers, guardians of age-old traditions, will now access American markets with ease. ‘Our handlooms and ready-to-wear fashion will dazzle international buyers, fostering jobs and elevating our artisans,’ he posted. This influx of opportunities could redefine livelihoods, turning local crafts into global sensations.

Looking ahead, the CM linked the bilateral tech partnership to Odisha’s strategic role in semiconductors. The state’s rich deposits of rare earth minerals align perfectly with rising global demands, potentially making Odisha a tech training epicenter. ‘We’re connecting our resources to world-class innovation,’ Majhi noted, eyeing industrial leaps.

Seafood exporters are buzzing with excitement. As tariffs drop, Odisha’s prized shrimp and fish will flood US supermarkets, bolstering coastal economies. Fishermen and aquaculture farmers anticipate higher incomes, propelling the region toward blue economy leadership. Majhi described this as a ‘new identity’ for Odisha’s marine sector.

With Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar announcing the deal’s near-completion, Odisha’s vision of economic resurgence feels within reach. This pact weaves together tradition, technology, and trade, scripting a prosperous chapter for the eastern state.
