One year B.Ed course will start again after 10 years with some new conditions. A decision on this was taken in the recently held meeting of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE). NCTE has approved the proposal in this regard. Let us tell you that the one year B.Ed course was discontinued in 2014.

    NCTE Chairman Prof. Panjak Arora said that the new Regulations-2025 of the Governing Body have also been approved. It will replace the 2014. Only those students who have done a four-year graduation course or have a post graduation degree will be able to do one year B.Ed course. The one-year B.Ed course was discontinued in 2014. 2015 batch was the last batch of this course.

    What is a four-year graduation course?

    First of all, let us tell you that according to NCTE Chairman, at present a 4-year integrated teacher education course is being conducted in about 64 places in the country, from where students can do B.Ed in the subject of their choice. This is a four-year dual degree graduation level course – such as B.Sc. B.Ed, BA B.Ed and B.Com B.Ed etc. Students doing this course will be eligible to do one year B.Ed course.

    Who can do one year B.Ed?

    One year B.Ed course will be done by those students who have either completed four years of graduation or will be eligible for this course after post graduation. In the meeting of the Governing Body of National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) held last Saturday, many other major decisions have been taken regarding teaching courses including one year B.Ed. NCTE Chairman Prof. Pankaj Arora said that approval has also been given to bring new Regulations-2025 of the Governing Body. These new regulations will replace the 2014 regulations.

    Two year special B.Ed course has been closed

    First of all, let us tell you that the two-year special B.Ed course has already been stopped for the promotion of disabled children. The recognition of this course has now ended. Earlier, the Supreme Court had said that candidates doing B.Ed course are not eligible to become primary teachers. In its decision, the court had said that to become a primary teacher, it is necessary to do a two-year D.El.Ed course. The Supreme Court had canceled the 2018 notification of NCTE, in which candidates with B.Ed degree were considered eligible for primary teacher.
