The Pentagon removed US Air Force Lt Gen. Jeffrey Kruse from his position as Chief of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) on August 22. The move, according to sources, comes after a preliminary report from the agency contradicted President Donald Trump’s assertion that US strikes in June had ‘obliterated’ Iran’s nuclear facilities. This marks the latest instance of a high-ranking official being dismissed under the current administration, and the second senior military intelligence leader to be ousted. Senator Mark Warner expressed serious concerns, suggesting the firing reflects a pattern of treating intelligence as a test of loyalty.
