Sushila Karki has been sworn in as the Interim Prime Minister of Nepal, amidst ongoing political unrest. Her appointment is a crucial step as the nation’s leaders strive to stabilize the government during this transitional period. The former Chief Justice of Nepal, Karki, was inaugurated by President Ramchandra Paudel. The interim cabinet, under her leadership, does not include any ministers. Sushila Karki is the jurist chosen by the Gen Z movement. She previously served as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal, the only woman to have ever held this position, beginning her tenure on July 11, 2016. An impeachment motion against her was filed in Parliament in 2017 by the Maoist Centre and the Nepali Congress. However, this motion was later withdrawn following public pressure and an interim order by the Supreme Court.
