The Taliban government has issued a new directive in Afghanistan, ordering the removal of 51 subjects from the country’s school curriculum. According to reports, the Ministry of Education has declared that these subjects are being removed because they are deemed to be ‘against Islam.’ The subjects removed include topics such as the national flag, concepts of freedom, national unity, human rights, democracy, women’s rights, peace, and the Afghan national anthem. Additionally, content related to the Buddhas of Bamiyan, Teacher’s Day, and Mother’s Day have also been removed. This curriculum was previously taught from grades 1 through 12. The Taliban administration has not yet issued a public statement or announcement regarding this order.
