The Taliban has dismissed a demand from former US President Donald Trump for the return of the Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan. In Kabul, the Chief of Staff of the Taliban’s armed forces, Fasihuddin Fitrat, stated that Afghanistan is now fully independent and not reliant on any foreign power. He emphasized that they are not intimidated by any threats or aggressors and that there will be no compromise on even an inch of Afghan land. The Taliban has made it clear that such a scenario is not possible and warned of a strong response if any forceful actions are taken. Earlier, Trump had issued a warning on the social media platform Truth Social, suggesting that adverse consequences could follow if Afghanistan did not return the Bagram Airbase. Trump also characterized the decision to abandon the base as a significant error, leading to the Taliban gaining control of American weaponry and military assets.
