Following the Taliban’s capture of Kabul, Sharia law has been implemented in Afghanistan. Despite objections from numerous human rights organizations and the UN, Afghanistan continues to impose punishments deemed illegal and inhumane by the international community. In the past month, the Taliban publicly whipped 114 people across the country, including 20 women. Data shows that the number of women whipped in Sunbula increased twofold from August 22nd to September 22nd. Overall, the number of such cases in Sunbula has increased nearly fivefold, with 50 people whipped this month compared to 10 the previous month.
