Trump Admin Revokes 80,000 Visas: Focus on Immigration Violations

Since taking office on January 20th, the Trump administration has significantly intensified its focus on immigration enforcement, revoking approximately 80,000 non-immigrant visas. These actions target a range of offenses, including serious criminal activity like driving under the influence, assault, and theft, alongside violations of immigration regulations and foreign policy directives. Driving under the influence alone accounted for around 16,000 visa cancellations, with assault and theft contributing another 20,000. This rigorous approach is complemented by enhanced vetting for new applicants, incorporating expanded social media monitoring and more in-depth background checks. The State Department has also been active in revoking student visas, with over 6,000 cancellations in August alone for issues such as overstaying, legal breaches, or engaging in activities contrary to visa conditions, some of which were linked to alleged support for terrorism. The administration is sending a clear message that adherence to U.S. laws and foreign policy is paramount for visa holders.
