Since its inauguration on January 20, the Trump administration has taken decisive action against immigration violations, revoking approximately 80,000 non-immigrant visas. These cancellations stem from a range of offenses, including serious crimes like driving under the influence (DUI), assault, and theft, as well as breaches of immigration regulations and foreign policy directives. Driving under the influence alone accounted for about 16,000 revocations, with assault and theft contributing 12,000 and 8,000 respectively, collectively representing nearly half of all visa cancellations this year. In parallel, the administration has bolstered its vetting processes, implementing enhanced social media scrutiny and more in-depth background checks for all prospective visa applicants, signaling a significant tightening of U.S. immigration policies. This concerted effort aims to ensure greater compliance with U.S. laws and safeguard national interests.
