Former President Donald Trump has announced a significant diplomatic shift, stating the United States will boycott the G20 summit hosted in South Africa and will not invite the nation to the 2026 summit in Florida. Trump cited South Africa’s alleged refusal to address the “killing of white people” and the confiscation of farms from descendants of settlers as the primary reasons for this decision. He further accused the “radical left media” of ignoring these alleged human rights abuses, calling them “genocide.”

In a series of statements, Trump declared that the U.S. would cease all payments and subsidies to South Africa. This diplomatic action stems from South Africa’s reported refusal to cede the G20 presidency to a U.S. representative during the closing ceremony of the recent summit. Trump asserted that South Africa’s actions demonstrate it is “not a country worthy of Membership anywhere,” signaling a potentially prolonged period of strained relations and severed financial aid.
