Following a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, President Donald Trump has suggested the possibility of discussions with Iran regarding its nuclear program. Trump indicated that talks between American and Iranian officials could occur next week, despite Tehran’s stance on continuing its nuclear activities. While the US and Israel claim to have damaged Iranian nuclear sites, Iran’s assessment of the damage differs. The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) previously stated its commitment to advancing its nuclear program, regardless of external pressures.

Speaking at the NATO summit in The Hague, Trump did not provide specific details on potential agreements. However, he stated, “We’re going to talk to them next week, with Iran. We may sign an agreement. I don’t know. To me, I don’t think it’s that necessary.”

Trump further asserted that Iran’s immediate priority is recovery rather than uranium enrichment. US envoy to the United Nations, Dorothy Shea, previously stated that US strikes effectively curtailed Iran’s nuclear weapon production capabilities. Iran has not confirmed any upcoming talks. Earlier, Trump announced he had instructed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to prepare an agreement for Iran, noting the ceasefire was progressing positively.
