President Donald Trump delivered a stark message from Air Force One: Greenland belongs to America, period. The declaration comes amid escalating Arctic rivalries, with Trump cautioning that rivals like Russia and China are poised to seize the territory if the U.S. hesitates.

‘I’d love a deal because it’s easy, but Greenland will be ours under any circumstances,’ Trump told journalists. He ruled out half-measures, demanding complete sovereignty rather than leases. Military force wasn’t explicitly threatened, but his rhetoric left little room for compromise.

Trump painted a dire picture of Greenland’s defenses: ‘Practically no protection there, with Russian and Chinese vessels all around.’ He argued that America’s current footprint falls short without full control, likening it to securing property deeds in business.

The outspoken leader also touted his NATO achievements, saying allies are now funding defense at unprecedented levels—up to five percent of GDP—ensuring no alliance fractures from this pursuit.

Strategically located in the Arctic, Greenland is a Danish autonomous territory critical for future shipping routes and defense pathways. U.S. bases already dot the landscape, but growing Russian and Chinese incursions demand bolder action.

Denmark hasn’t received an official offer, per Trump, yet he made it clear: preparations for U.S. ownership should begin immediately. This provocative position reignites debates over territorial expansion in a melting Arctic, where resources and routes are up for grabs.
