Former US President Donald Trump allegedly relayed a demand from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, proposing that Ukraine cede significant territory to end the ongoing conflict. Sources indicate that during a recent summit in Alaska, Putin suggested that Ukraine surrender all of Donetsk, an industrial region that Russia has targeted, in exchange for a freeze on most front lines. Zelenskyy reportedly rejected this proposal. Trump, speaking on Saturday, emphasized the need for a peace agreement to end the war, stating that Russia is a major power and Ukraine is not. Zelenskyy is scheduled to visit Washington on Monday to discuss strategies to end the conflict, which has been ongoing since 2022.
