President Donald Trump is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and meet with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Trump’s address to the UNGA marks his first speech to world leaders from the prestigious UNGA platform during his second term as president.

During a press briefing, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that Trump’s speech would be extensive, reiterating American strength worldwide, while also highlighting his accomplishments in just eight months of his second term, including the end of seven global wars and conflicts.

In addition, President Trump will hold bilateral meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres and leaders from Ukraine, Argentina, and the European Union. A multilateral meeting will also take place, involving Qatar, Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey, the UAE, and Jordan. This will be Trump’s fifth address to the UNGA, though his first during his second term, having addressed the General Assembly between 2017 and 2021 during his first term.

President Zelenskyy of Ukraine will also meet with Trump in New York. Reports suggest that Zelenskyy may seek stricter sanctions against Russia from the United States during their meeting. The 80th session of the UN General Assembly began on September 9th. The UNGA provides a platform for 193 member states to discuss international issues, where each country has an equal voting right.
