Ukraine Launches Major Drone Attack on Russian Oil Terminal, Disrupting Crude Exports

In a significant escalation, Ukraine executed a large-scale drone operation targeting Russia’s largest oil terminal on Saturday. The attack resulted in fires on two tankers and a halt to crude oil loading operations. The facility, owned by the Russian oil company Bashneft, is located approximately 1,400 kilometers from the front lines. While the fire was extinguished, it remains unclear whether loading has resumed. According to reports, one drone struck the plant, and another was shot down. Officials stated that there were no casualties, though minor damage occurred. Videos circulating on social media depict a drone approaching the facility before exploding and emitting a plume of smoke. This assault aligns with Ukraine’s strategy to target Russian oil infrastructure, aiming to reduce Moscow’s financial resources for the ongoing war. Concurrently, former US President Donald Trump has called on NATO allies to impose substantial tariffs on China to deter the purchase of Russian oil.
