Typhoon Kaziki, predicted to be the strongest storm of the year, is poised to make landfall in Vietnam. The meteorological department reports the typhoon is advancing towards the central coast of Vietnam, with wind speeds reaching 175 km/h, which could intensify further after landfall. In response, airports and schools across the country have been closed. Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet have canceled more than 22 flights. An evacuation order has been issued for 586,000 people across four provinces. Over 150,000 families in Thanh Hoa, Quang Tri, Hue, and Da Nang have been instructed to seek shelter in safer locations. Kaziki is currently moving across the South China Sea. Heavy overnight rainfall has been reported in the coastal city of Vinh before the typhoon’s landfall. Seven coastal provinces have imposed a ban on boat operations at sea. Moreover, 21,000 rescue workers have been deployed for emergency operations.
